Have you ever stopped to ask yourself what’s really driving you?
Sometimes it’s passion or purpose—but other times, if we’re honest, it’s fear, pressure, or the need to prove ourselves. This week, I took some time to reflect on what motivates me… and how easily my heart can drift from faith to fear.

What Drives You?

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what really drives me. Not just what gets me out of bed in the morning, but what fuels my thoughts, my choices, and even my frustrations. Because if I’m honest, sometimes what drives me isn’t faith—it’s fear. It’s pressure. It’s wanting to prove something or fix something I can’t control.

Maybe you can relate.
We all have that thing that pushes us forward, but not always in the right direction. Success, comfort, approval, control—each of these can be powerful motivators, yet they often leave us empty or restless.

I’ve learned that even good things can take the wrong place in our hearts when they become the main thing.
That’s when I know I’ve lost my focus—when what’s driving me is louder than the quiet voice of God reminding me, “You’re mine. You don’t have to earn it.”

When Jesus becomes my focus, everything changes. My work stops being about proving my worth and starts being about expressing it. My goals become opportunities to serve rather than trophies to show off. And even on the hard days, I can find peace knowing I’m driven by love, not by pressure.

So I’m learning to pause and ask myself:
“What’s driving me right now—faith or fear?”
If it’s fear, that’s my cue to realign. To pray. To breathe. To remember who I am and whose I am.

God doesn’t just want us to move—He wants us to move with Him. When our motivation flows from His Spirit, even ordinary moments become sacred ones.
